Managing Director of First Names Group in Geneva Serge Richard is disarmingly honest and refreshingly positive. He believes a problem shared is a problem halved and will not hesitate to go outside his comfort zone to find the solution. Serge faces even the most daunting prospects with a smile – and a plan. As a leader Serge takes responsibility seriously, but always seeks to empower those in his team to think for themselves.
Try not to become a man of success. Rather become a man of value.
Having spent seven years working as an accountant in France and a similar time as a trust manager in Geneva, Serge took the decision to return to higher education and completed an MBA at Reims Management School. With over 18 years’ experience in the industry, Serge absorbs the valuable lessons learnt and invariably comes up trumps. A focus on emerging markets boosted his already strong appreciation for those who make the best of what they have.
IN THREE WORDS:
People have been a major influence throughout Serge’s career: many taught him invaluable lessons while others helped him to see things differently. As a result Serge has a real sense of belonging with a common purpose - he really cares about people. He feels privileged to call Andre Klein a friend and respectfully says that he is the most reliable person he has ever met - they have been firm friends for over a quarter of a century. He also enjoys Stephen Screech’s positive approach and commends Michel Maréchal who is always professional and often amusing.
Passionate about so much – especially his two teenage daughters, Serge has a very full life. He delights in standing at the top of the Jean Vuarnet slope in Avoriaz with his skis on and equally having a braai (BBQ) in the hot African bush. He loves pouring his Mum’s chilli sauce over a penne dish, chatting to his Dad and opening a bottle of Primitivo di Manduria. He reads, sits in the sunshine, invests time in good friends and runs along Lake Geneva. Serge is a happy man!
