John Hughes is an Associate Director with our private client teams in Jersey. With over 20 years as a trust practitioner and a previous role with the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC), he has a great perspective on the island’s financial services industry. Responsible for managing an extensive portfolio, John is in his element when he’s finding just the right solutions for his clients.
Success is simple. Do what’s right, the right way at the right time.
John has worked for a number of trust companies of various sizes and ownerships since he moved to Jersey from the UK in 1988. He is a Chartered Secretary and has a thorough understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements, thanks to his years with the JFSC.
IN THREE WORDS:
John likes to help his team achieve their professional ambitions and takes an inclusive and collegiate approach to getting things done. He enjoys bouncing ideas off his colleagues, especially Matthew Chambers, who provides pragmatic solutions to risk-related issues, and Michael Goulborn for his dry wit and concise advice.
When John isn’t problem-solving for his clients, he can be seen trying to get a hole in one on the golf course – something that’s eluded him so far. Originally from Cheshire, John ended up living on the island unintentionally; he was visiting a Jersey friend and decided to go for a job interview – and the rest is history. Talking of the past, John loves to travel to ancient sites and his dream is to visit Shiraz, Petra and Machu Picchu one day.
