First Names Group wins big at Citywealth IFC Awards

19 January 2017

First Names Group was the big winner at last night’s Citywealth International Financial Centre Awards, claiming the title of ‘Trust Company of the Year’ for Guernsey and Switzerland as well as coming runner up in the Jersey and Hong Kong & Singapore categories.

Now in their sixth year, the Citywealth IFC Awards highlight excellence among the advisers and managers in the private wealth sector in the world’s major international financial centres. The awards were judged by an international panel of highly respected practitioners from all sectors, who have experience working with advisers in each of the jurisdictions covered.

First Names Group and the other winning entrants were recognised as having excelled in achievement, innovation, expertise and service. Citywealth further noted that, in what has been a “period of extreme turbulence and constant change for clients, this is when quality advice is at a premium. It is when the best of the best really stand out.”

Winners were announced last night at an awards ceremony in London. Shortlisted for ‘Trust Company of the Year – Guernsey’, ‘Trust Company of the Year – Hong Kong & Singapore’, ‘Trust Company of the Year – Jersey’ and ‘Trust Company of the Year – Switzerland’, First Names Group successfully took home accolades for all four of their nominations. Notably this is the second year running that the growing international trust business has been awarded the title for Guernsey.

Collecting the Guernsey award was Stuart Dowding, Client Services Director in the Group’s Guernsey office, who commented:

“On behalf of the First Names Guernsey team, I’m so pleased we have won this award for a second time. Retaining the title reflects the fact that our Guernsey operation continues to go from strength to strength. We have an exceptionally skilled and hard-working local team in place and we look forward to seeing what 2017 will bring as our business continues to grow.”

Meanwhile Serge Richard, Managing Director for Private Client in Geneva, said of the Switzerland award win:

“Being awarded ‘Trust Company of the Year – Switzerland’ makes me incredibly proud of our Private Client team in Switzerland; without them this achievement simply would not have been possible. The accolade is a welcome testament to their consistently high quality of work as well as their dedication to delivering the very best service to our clients. The fact we have achieved the equivalent title for Guernsey too, and have come runner-up in Jersey, Hong Kong and Singapore, is an absolutely fantastic result for the business as a whole. I am delighted.”
